Talks - Virtual Field Meetings 2021
We our replacing our Evening Classes with Virtual Field Meetings. Initially we intend to run one a week for six weeks starting 5 Jan 2021. The cost for the six events will be £36.00 per person. If you are interested, please email secretary@NGSG.org.uk. You will need to become a member of NGSG to join the evening class. Membership is free, but you must agree to our data protection policy. The virtual meeting room will open at 7:45pm and the event will start promptly at 8:00pm. You can connect from 7:45pm to check that your connection works and for a general chat will anyone who is there. If you can’t connect then phone Mike on 01635 820904. This is the phone next to the computer running GoToMeeting. Priority from 7:45 to 8:00pm will be given to making sure everyone can access the meeting. We will not be taking part payment, but those paying will have access to a video of the presentations. We will aim to finish shortly after 9:00pm when Les reaches a suitable point. We ask everyone to keep their microphones off except when Les is taking questions. This limits background noise and feedback.
We will send details of how to pay when you sign up. Details have been removed from here as they have resulted in spam being sent to NGSG. We will ensure that all monies are properly accounted for and entered into the NGSG accounts. You can join the events if you have missed one or more weeks but the £36.00 fee will still apply - paying will give you access to the videos from the previous weeks.
We are using GotoMeeting software to run our meetings. This is free for your connection to our meetings and can be downloaded before the meeting starts from https://global.gotomeeting.com/install/
The software is also available for tablets and smartphones from the normal sources. We are aiming to use slides which will be suitable for an A4 size tablet. They may not all be suitable for smartphones. You will need a speaker or headphones, and a microphone will useful if you wish to participate fully. A camera is optional. Please download our guide to using GotoMeeting. If you need to check the Windows Setting for your microphone then click here to see our video on how to do this in Windows 10.
A 9 digit meeting ID and a secret link to the page with the videos will be provided to those who have paid for the class.
Cancellation of a Class
Should we have to cancel a talk then we will reschedule it for another day. If we have to cancel completely then we will refund for the events we have not been able to run.
Handout and Other Resources
Those joining the events will be given a secret link to the page with the videos plus any handout Les provides. Please also see the Resources page which is under development.
The first Virtual Meeting will be to North Cornwall. Others will include the Norfolk Coast, North Devon, Pembrokeshire and the Charnwood Forest.
